CEO in the Ministry of Home Affairs Elton Bennett, is also a Sandhurst graduate. Today, he spoke with us about his experience studying abroad and how Sandhurst helped shape him into a leader.
Elton Bennett, CEO - Ministry of Home Affairs

"The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is considered the world's finest commission core it focuses on leadership, it is one year of compact leadership preparing an officer to meet the challenges of the military it is the first assignment as a commissioned officer so myself walking into the parade square at the royal college, at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst 25 years ago meeting my colonel sergeant who would take me from a leader through a year of compact studies, military studies and different leadership aspects of developing you as an individual was one hell of an experience so to have been selected at that point to represent Belize and to have gone out to attend this program is something that has definitely forged my career it laid the foundation not only for my first appointment as a platoon commander but the values instilled in me at Sandhurst certainly still remains with me as a leader. So it not only prepares you for your first assignment but it prepares you well into the leadership world."
"We have 2 current sitting ministers that are graduates of Sandhurst, we have had I believe 9 generals from Belize that have gone through Sandhurst and 2 admirals myself and John Borland we have had CEO's in government who have gone through Sandhurst so it is really a proven institution, not only in Belize but across the world."
