And while students in that village will now use the community centre - they may not have power anytime soon. That's because rural reconnections are proving the most challenging. Here's how BEL's Corporate Communications Manager put it:

"As it relates to the rural parts of the Belize District, the outskirts of Belize City all the way through to Crooked Tree and Belize River Valley in addition to the portion between Western Paradise, Hattieville, up to Mile 25, if you have been on the highways, you will see that there is a lot of damages in those areas. That's where we had the most extreme situations in terms of damage to our power system, so it will take longer. Unfortunately, we want to admit at this point that those are the areas where customers will remain out for the most part until tomorrow."
