Tonight, like a boxer that got knocked down by Hurricane Lisa, Belize City - and the wider Belize District is still groggily getting back on its feet - but we're still a long way off from normalcy.
The housing assessment is not complete - but from our constant touring we know that the homes with structural damage number in the thousands, and those with total roof losses are in the many hundreds. And, as we'll show you later tonight, there are some homes that just aren't there anymore.
The good news for most city residents is that water supply is trickling back in, and so is electricity: BEL has powered up close to 90% of the city.
Still, a few thousand residences are now over 48 hours without power - and, one hour ago, BEL's Corporate Communications Manager had an update on when they can expect to get connected:
Vonetta Burrell, Corporate Communications Manager, BEL

"At this point we are working diligently to restore the majority of Belize City and we have areas that have been out for the past 2 days, primarily Faber's Road area. We have some areas in King's Park, Port Loyola, Buttonwood Bay, Belama, West Landivar. Those are the areas we have teams dispatched right now, in addition to other parts of Belize City, but those are the areas that have wider groups of customers who have been out and we will be working until as late as possible tonight to restore those customers."
As of this morning, BEL had restored power to about 95% of customers in the Cayo District and up to 80% of customers in Ladyville and rural areas of the Belize District.
