The mayor of Orange Walk came down to assist in this effort and we found him on Fort Street leading a crew to get a massive Pine Tree removed from blocking the road to the Tourism Village.
He said Sugar City had to come to the recuse of its salty big brother:
Ladrick Sheppard, Mayor, Orange Walk
"As the minute we got the all clear, we decide that we had to come to Belize City, because you know Belize City is the main vein of the entire country. Everybody passes through the Belize District. It wouldn't be nice if we have the place in this kind of condition that we are seeing right now - all these debris, all these trees, especially in the streets that the people need to traverse as well. So we came in full force with 25 employees, my main manager and also my supervisor. I'm also bringing a truck and a backhoe and everything is being paid by the Orange Walk Town Council, so Mayor Wagner does not have to pay a single cent. I'm in charge for the food for the workers and I am also giving them a stipend for their assistance. That's the way how we do things in Orange Walk with love and that's why we are out here assisting."

"This was a major fall, Australian Pine that almost brought down these 2 lampposts right here on Fort Street across from the Tourist Village. How many men will it take to get this thing taken care of?"

Ladrick Sheppard, Mayor, Orange Walk
"When I was there, we had 375 BDF that was deployed out there. They were there with me, so I thing we must could do this. The amount of manpower that we have out here today, we must get the city clean. We have to get this place clean. There is no doubt about it. We're giving the mayor 2 days; Friday and Saturday."
