It's been a while since we updated you on the case against Rainforest Seafoods - after the regional company was caught with 22 thousand allegedly undersized conch as their Belize headquarters in Independence village. And that's because there's been intense negotiation behind the scenes between the Fisheries Department and the Ministry of the Blue Economy on one hand, and the attorney for Rainforest Seafood on the other, Godfrey Smith.

According to our sources, the company - which could face a fine of over a million dollars for more than 22 thousand undersized conch - has proposed a settlement for about half that figure. That figure has not been accepted, but we are told negotiations remain active. We'll keep following it.
