A six year old was found dead in Yo Creek Village after he apparently drowned in a pond. The boy, whose name police have not released, went looking for cashews along with his six-year-old cousin around three-yesterday afternoon. One of them returned at 6:00 pm but he said he left his cousin looking for cashews. A search was mounted, but it turned up nothing.

This morning, Police and the BDF got involved and that when they found the missing six year old's body floating in a pond about a thousand feet from his home. Police have not yet released their findings on the death, so we cannot say that foul play has been ruled out, even though it appears to be a drowning.

And while Orange Walk Police still have to investigate that case, the cause of a newborn's death in Belize City is clear-cut. Doctors say 9-month-old Moesha Palacio died from pneumonia. The child's mother, 19-year-old Keisha Davis told police that late Thursday night after breastfeeding Moesha she left her in the care of a guardian. Keisha says that when she returned about three hours later 3:30 on Friday morning, baby Moesha was not breathing. She rushed Moesha to the hospital but it was too late. Moesha was pronounced dead on arrival and a subsequent post mortem revealed pneumonia as the cause of death.

Meanwhile, police forensic examiners have confirmed that a ruptured artery in the brain, somewhat like an aneurysm killed a 51-year-old American woman vacationing in Monkey River.

Last week Thursday morning, police were called to a local guesthouse, where Emily Roberts had collapsed and died on the floor of her bedroom. She had been complaining of pains behind the neck and a forensic examination on Saturday showed that she had bleeding within the brain. With that, police have ruled out foul play.
