So how will you know when it's your turn to get the jab? Well, you'll need to keep your ears and eyes open for the Ministry of Health's awareness campaign. Minister Michel Chebat said that there will also be forms available online that can be filled out early if you are in the first phase of the rollout program. That is, health care workers, those over 60 years of age, and those with comorbidities.
And what about those who refuse to take it? Well, Chebat says he hopes to change their minds.
Hon Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness
"We're launching and entire education campaign, an awareness campaign, so we're putting out in the media the group whose time has come, whose turn is coming, and also on our website we're gonna have pre registration forms so that people can start as of now to start filling in the forms so that data can be entered into the BHI system so when they get here it's just to confirm and then move on to vaccination."
Courtney Menzies:
"We know the vaccines aren't mandatory, but for the people working in the Ministry of Health and in the health sector on a whole, will they be required to take the vaccine?"
Hon Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness
"Well, we can't force anybody to take the vaccine but we could hope especially our healthcare workers who have seen the devastation of this virus will understand the importance of getting vaccinated."
"I think the biggest challenge is people realizing how critical it is to be vaccinated, I know there is a lot of people out there who seem to be against it but we're hoping that overtime and when we start getting the results from the people who have already been vaccinated to show that there are no real side effects, we're going to have more of a take up."
Those in Phase 5 are expected to receive their vaccines by the third quarter of this year.
