It's the top technical position at the Ministry of Health and one that's necessary to properly navigate through an unpredictable pandemic. The whole country saw how beneficial the post was when Dr Marvin Manzanero was the one who fielded questions from the media in interviews and from the public in the popular educational show, "Ask The Experts." But the new administration removed him from his desk shortly after taking office and has yet to have someone else step up as the lead technical authority - scene who's not a politician. Today, frontliner Andrew Baird said it's time for the post to be properly filled.

"How do we expect to fight this pandemic adequately without the director of health services in place. That office in these type of pandemic is very important and I appeal and I said to the government you need to either put back Dr. Manzanero where he supposed to be or fix the issue and appoint a director of health service so that person can be speaking directly to the Belizean people and not a minister that does not have the capacity as far as health is concern to make the decisions."
