Yesterday was not a day to be out on the seas - there were strong winds and rough sea conditions. And a skiff from San Pedro with 8 persons on board paid a dear price for it - as one of their passengers died when the vessel capsized.
He is San Pedro resident Silvia Camara - a retired teacher. A passing sailboat picked up four people who they saw in the waters near Turneffe - along with Camara who was already un-responsive.
The Coast Guard then took up the search and found the other three passengers nearby about 90 minutes later. One person had to be hospitalized.
They were all on a 25 foot skiff named the "Nair" which sank earlier that day.
The full circumstances of the accident aren't known yet, as the Port Authority and the Police Department are both investigating.
