Cabinet had a special two day meeting this week - getting ready for the upcoming budget presentation. And in those meetings it also gave its approval for a new fee waiver for visitors from Mexico. In what is called "an initiative to facilitate an increase of visitors from the Mexican states of Campeche, Yucatan, Tabasco, Chiapas, and Quintana Roo", Belize will make it easier for them to cross the Belize-Mexico border by removing all border exit taxes. That includes the Border Development fee, the Conservation fee, and the Belize Departure Tax. That is only for those travelers resident in those states who are staying for up to seven days in Belize.
