All Town and City Council leaders - except the one in Belmopan - demited office effective yesterday.
But the former San Ignacio Mayor was back at the works compound today because he says the Town Administrator allegedly told all 50 public works employees to stand down from their duties. This includes the crews who pick up garbage and clean the streets.
The mayor was irate when he spoke to Pandy today:
Earl Trapp, Mayor, San Ignacio
"Yesterday was my last day in office according to the constitution and the town council act. So I handed over the reins to him for him to oversee the work, not to stop the work, but disappointedly he came this morning to stop the workers from going out."
"So I want to tell him what he expects. He expects this town, he expects that the workers are going to sit down in the yard or stay home and the garbage will pile up throughout our towns, the streets will not get wet, the streets will not be patched."
"What is he expecting?"
We could not reach the town administrator today for his side of the story.
