Butane Tank Rupture Forces Emergency Evacuation Of School

It could have been a catastrophe....but fortunately no one was hurt when an industrial butane tank at the HL's burger stall on Princess Margaret Drive ruptured today - causing butane to disperse into the air.

It forced an emergency evacuation of Belize Elementary and Belize High School - which was on break at the time - causing all types of confusion. The students were then assembled at a nearby office space for their parents to pick them up as the Fire Department was called. It was brought under control without any damage or harm to anyone.

When we contacted BWEL for a comment, they declined and said the situation was under control.
