In an interview last week Thursday, the Minister of Health proposed the possibility of stopping the sale of "Red Top" in Belize. If you don't know, it's an overproof rum that is the strongest available on the market.

On Labour Day, the Minister of Immigration, Labour & Governance shared his thoughts on the proposal.

He says he has no problem in keeping the beverage on shelves, so long as it is sold with a sufficient sin tax.

Reporter-
"Do you support the banning of Red Top and such liquor types that are very cheap?"

Kareem Musa, Minister of Labour
"I mean I would be lying if I say I don't see the damage caused by Red Top in our country by alcohol on a whole. It is not just Red Top. I think at the very least it should be taxed, it shouldn't be so accessible and so cheap. So that is something because we are reviewing right now: tax laws that is something that I should see a sin tax in my opinion."
