And one pressing regional issue put forward for consideration and workable solutions was the situation in Haiti. The rest of the region has watched that country descend into civil unrest, armed gang violence, disease, and widespread acute hunger.
It's a situation that the Vice Presidents and Foreign Ministers at today's meeting say they are considering carefully while working for free and fair elections in the country.
