The CARICOM Single Market and Economy - one of its founding principles is the free movement of people across the region. This will also give way to the movement of labour. And while it may be a cornerstone of the CSME - implementation has lagged.
But, coming out of this week's CARICOM' Heads of Government meeting, four nations have agreed to forge ahead and adopt this free movement - and Belize is one of them:
Andrew Holness, Chairman - CARICOM
"We are now moving from applying administratively the protocol on enhanced cooperation which all member states have signed with now four countries, Barbados, Belize, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Dominica reiterating their willingness to implement full free movement under the protocol October 1, 2025."
The CARICOM heads of Government meeting concluded yesterday in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
