The Airport may be open but Belize's land borders remain closed. And while Belizeans are being strongly advised against leaving the country unless it is a bona fide emergency, there are ways to do so.
And if you need to leave through either Corozal or Benque Viejo Del Carmen you'll need to get clearance by sending an email to director@ins.gov.bz and protocol@mfa.gov.bz. If you're traveling for medical reasons you'll also need to send one to dhs@health.gov.bz.
If you're looking to come back into the country through either land border the process is similar but you'll have to coordinate that return by emailing repatriation@mfa.gov.bz, and either bring a PCR test or be prepared to pay for quarantine at a pre-approved hotel.
Belizeans seeking re-entry who do not have a 72-hour PCR test and cannot pay for hotel quarantine will be tested and accommodated at the D'Silva Quarantine Center until they receive a negative test result.
Travelers and returnees are asked to note that coordinated returns are ONLY carried out from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Government of Belize strongly encourages returnees to quarantine for a period of 10 days and to adhere to health protocols.
