If you're travelling on parts of the Phillip Goldson and George Price highways on on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday you could get stuck behind some extremely long and heavy bridge beams that will be in motion.

These beams will be used in the upgrading of the Coastal Highway, and they will be moving along a route through Ladyville on the Phillip Goldson Highway. The beams will then be taken through the Burrell Boom Road, then onto the Coastal Highway at La Democracia Village.

These long span beams will become the Manatee Bridge.

The Ministry informs that traffic and police personnel will be escorting the beams to ensure public safety on the highway. Drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution when approaching the convoy. The motoring public is being asked to follow traffic signals and instructions from the traffic authorities at all teams. That's because the beams may take up the entire width of the highway. If you encounter these beams in transit, you should NOT attempt to overtake them on the road if you haven't been given a clear signal by the traffic and police personnel.
