And finally tonight - we have video of Friday's tense moments on the Sarstoon between the BDF and the GAF.
We told you on Friday how a Guatemalan sand barge heading for Sarstoon Village on their side of the border became grounded in Belizean waters. It was right in front of the forward operating base, so the BDF responded.
Well, we have obtained video of what happened next and Jules Vasquez has this report:
This was the tense scene at the mouth of the Sarstoon on Friday - Guatemalan civilian vessels and the Guatemalan Armed Forces darting about around the mouth of the Sarstoon river.
The GAF was heading into Belizean waters to confront the BDF who had boarded this Guatemalan sand barge that was grounded about 800 yards in front of their Forward Operating Base.
The Guatemalan civilians told their military that the BDF was harassing them for money as they tried to use smaller vessels to carry the sand away to Sarstoon village across the river.
So the GAF responded and after a talk between both militaries, the BDF agreed to let the activity continue - ruling the barge's entry into Belizean waters as innocent passage.
The BDF might have held their ground, but it was a Coast Guard maritime issue - and when backup didn't arrive, they chose the path of least resistance.
Our thanks to PG TV for those videos.
