It's a combined effort between The Belize Police Department, the Belize Defense Force and the Belize Coast guard, developing a plan of action to keep our tourists safe when visiting Belize. Together they have formed a Tourism Security Task Force, and it was launched today at the Biltmore. Here's what we learned from BTB's security specialist and the Commissioner of Police.
Herman Blease, Security Specialist, BTB

"Well we have been working on this strategy for the past 2 years. We brought together a group of people, 6 to be exact from the tourism security task force and we worked tirelessly to deliver a document that is designed to protect the industry that is this document that is the national tourism security five year plan. And so what the plan is intended to do is to bring all the agencies together by way of their commitment to the document to make sure that we keep the industry completely safe. Tourists can come to Belize and feel safe that while they are here staying and enjoying their vacation that together the tourism security forces the police department the BDF the coast guard we are all working in tandem to make sure that tourists come and feel safe, and enjoy their stay while in Belize."
Dr Richard Rosado, Commissioner of Police

"The police department plays an integral role because we are the primary law enforcers when it comes to maintaining law and order and ensuring the security of the tourists."
"Well the commander designate is the assistant superintendent Xenebio Coc, he will assume command on August 15th of this year and what I do believe is that he comes with a background from the community policing unit because they have been working with the community policing unit for the past 15 years. The tourism strategic plan speaks about developing collaboration, working with stakeholders, working with a partner agency so I believe he will be an asset for us in implementation of the tourism security strategy plan."
