Last week, you heard from the Transport Minister about their Easter schedule and what they were doing to prepare for the rush. Well today Dr Zabaneh told us all that preparation worked to ensure commuters had a smooth holiday.

Dr Louis Zabaneh, Minister of Transport
"I want to thank the staff, employees, drivers, conductors everybody for the NBC. I believe that we had a plan and we executed the plan. We had enough buses, we were ensuring that also at the terminals that the customers were served properly. It's a big rush every year around that time so we prepared for it and fortunately it went smoothly. We didn't have that level of complaints that you would have during that time of the year."
And as it relates to the Belize Bus Association's request for either the government to absorb the fuel tax and duties, provide a subsidy to the independent bus owners, or allow them to raise the fares, Zabaneh said they will be issuing their response tomorrow. However, as we reported, he said last week that the third option is completely off the table.
