Public Service Union Activist Zenaida Moya appeared before the Public Service Commission today and she was not dismissed. Moya appeared for the disciplinary hearing along with her Attorney Dean Barrow. Moya says that the Commission led by Chairman Anthony Sylvestre commended her for her good performance and assured her that she could return to work feeling secure.
While there were serious disciplinary charges raised by CEO Hugh O'Brien and the commission secretary, her attorney Dean Barrow started the session by disputing the validity of those charges. The commission has indicated that it will deliver its ruling to her by Monday. Moya works in the public sector investment programme in the Ministry of Economic Development. Along with many other public officers a portion of her salary was deducted for participating in an illegal strike.
