But as Faber grapples with his re-election he's well aware that today's students are tomorrow's voters.

He says that this time around grabbing the youth vote is a vital part of his campaign strategy. That's why he's in full support of the Department of Youth Services' Youth Votes Matter campaign. This evening he told us why the non-partisan initiative is to be applauded.

Hon. Patrick Faber, UDP Leader-Elect

"It is something that ought to be applauded. I think it is absolutely necessary particularly since they are not taking any kind of partisan approach. I think it is important for our young people whether they are red or blue, whatever color they may want to support to participate in the process of democracy in our country, but that participation ought not be limited to just voting. They ought to be heard and they also ought to be seen to be involved in the best kind of way, because of an event that they are having I think somebody ask me at what age did I get involved. I was first elected at 24 and so there is no other way for me. The young people are important, the youth vote is very important, it defines where we are today, but more importantly it will define where we go in the future and so I embrace any such activity and in fact in my own campaign within the party and within my own constituency we are targeting and intent to continue to target the youth vote, because it is so important for our victory."
