Since being shuffled out of the hot seat at the Ministry of Health, Michel Chebat has been quietly doing his thing, but keeping a low profile. And it's taken the media this long to catch up with him for his first post-shuffle interview. This morning at an event for BTL, the Minister of Pubic Utilities, Logistics and E Governance was asked how his legal skills are informing his role in this new ministry.
Hon. Michel Chebat, Minister of Public Utilities
"It seems the battles follow me wherever I go. On my transition when I was new in the industry it did force me to bring in the issue of the stevedores and so it did force me to -and to help with the negotiations that were taking place, I'm happy at the Ministry of the public utilities. I think it is a critical ministry, I look at it from the point of view to use utilities to help our people rise out of poverty, I look at it as an opportunity for equal justice. I know people don't think about it that way but when you think about it when you offer people light, when you offer people water you are lifting them up and you're giving them opportunities and so I welcome the opportunity to be at this new ministry."
