The internal drama at City Hall over councilor Mica Goodin has been dominating the news for the past two days - but our attention has been drawn to something far less public, but perhaps far more insidious.

It's the awarding of a contract to the relative of a councillor for the expansion of the Eternal Garden cemetery at mile 13.

Now, we saw this one coming from last week and did ask the mayor about it - here's what he told Daniel Ortiz:

Well, you heard it, he did not assure us - and tonight we are assured that the contract did go to a relative of councilor Kaya Cattouse. Reports say that her father's company Cattouse Trucking had the lowest of four bids, and was awarded the contract for $92,000 dollars. We called Ray Cattouse to discuss the award of the contract and what could be called the appearance of insider trading. He said he would get back to us - and up to newstime he had not.

But contrary to what the Mayor said last week, we are reliably informed that the council did not make this decisions in caucus and that caucus did not determine who is awarded the contract.

Tomorrow we hope to speak with the councillor in charge of cemeteries, Michael Novelo.
