So, why was Faber away for so long?
Well, in the months that he hadn't attended the House Meetings, he says he'd been going to therapy, caught a bout of COVID, and was even getting his doctorate, the old fashioned way.
Here's his explanation:
Hon. Patrick Faber, UDP Area Rep., Collet
"One of the reasons I was away, as you know, was for me to take time for myself, to work on me, to be a better individual, to bring about a better version of me for those people who I serve, and for myself as well. I've enrolled back in my doctoral program, as you've heard me say to the prime minister today. So I will have to go back and forth a little bit more. I was all but dissertation complete for a doctoral degree in public administration. I will have to take a course or two over because time has lapsed. There's been at least two and a half years since I had any of those classes and those two classes were basically preparatory classes for the dissertation. So you would understand that I have to do that, da noh because ah di repeat anything, soh please. Contrary to what the prime minister portrays, I'm a very bright guy, I will say so myself and pat myself on the back. But, that's what I'll be working on and of course I will continue in my therapy. My children were in California and Atlanta and I visited with them and spent a lot of time with them and for me, it was a wonderful healing process. Over the time, I lost my brother, my elder brother John, who was like a father to me, and so it was a very difficult time as well. I spent some time with his widow and, you know, just tried to work on the personal side for those who are interested in that. I guess in this line of business as you all know in the media there's not really much that you can hold private even though you would want to. For those who were digging in what I was doing and what kept me away, that is it and as I said my focus now will be to work diligently for my constituency and to make sure that they are properly represented and they are properly taken care of in terms of those services that I am bound by duty to provide for them and I will continue to work on me simultaneously."
