And while the present UDP is all too happy to distance itself from a former senior minister - they say the government cannot distance itself from the legal opinions on the Definitive Agreement by outside counsel Ben Juratowitch from the UK and Douglas Mendez from Trinidad.

The opinions didn't agree on the D-A, but everyone agrees, they sure did cost a lot.

And now UDP Senator Michael Peyrefitte has asked for the precise figures under the freedom of information act. He might have asked his leader though, who told the media today via zoom what he thinks it is.

Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"The one form Juratowitch I understand is about one hundred thousand US. Juratowitch who is our ICJ lawyer and Mendez is about fifty thousand so a total of three hundred thousand dollars spent on legal opinions."

Michael Peyrefitte, UDP Senator

"In terms of the cost, well I've previously asked for the Definitive Agreement and the Prime Minister, I wrote that letter in March to this day he has not responded to me, but we never needed him to respond to me. It was leaked to me. So we have that, I wrote to him today asking him about the cost of that opinion. I am betting he won't give me that either but it will just have to be leaked to me again."
