The Business Senator then rose to point out what he says is a critical error in the budget with revenue projections:
Kevin Herrera, Private Sector Senator
"I saw this year, in this budget, I'm seeing a move from the conservative budgeting that we've seen in previous budgeting cycle to a more aggressive approach, even though the operating environment is signaling caution and for us to be careful. You'll note that total revenues under perform by 5% or 87 million dollars in the previous fiscal year. 1.74 billion was budgeting and the projected outturn or what we actually expect to collect was 1.65 billion. Now the government is projecting total revenues of 1.79 billion for 2026. This represents an increase over the past year's actual of a 139 million dollars or this is an increase of around 8.4%. This is an extremely critical issue. This is what I believe makes this budget in many respects, unrealistic."
