In October of last year Wayne Myers appeared on 7NEWS complaining that all was not well with the Belize Bus Drivers Cooperative. At the time he alleged serious wrong doing claiming that drivers were putting monies into the accounts of the cooperative and it was being mismanaged. Well, those same allegations have resurfaced and Miguel Angel Balona and Austin Martinez say the cooperative is again going through the same problems.
Miguel Angle Balona,
"We need to know where is the money that was collected in the cooperative, where it went."
Austin Martinez,
"Today the status, we have about four dollars and something cents in the bank, ninety six cents to be exact."
Alfonso Noble,
How it came to this?
Austin Martinez,
"Well I want to know myself how it came to this because from August to now the buses are running. The point that the members want to know is where has the money gone. We have people that get pay from the cooperative that have bounced checks. We also have suppliers that the cooperatives owe and haven't been collecting their monies so where does the money go. What we are asking, we need a change of this executive body. We need a change and very quickly."
The bus drivers say that they are asking for a re-election of officers to sit at the board.
