Bruce Willacey will be criminally charged but police say they don't know with what. As we reported last night - Willacey was the star witness in the murder case against John Earl Young Crawford who was accused of killing police constable Euwin Armstrong in November of 2004.
After the incident Willacey told police that he saw Crawford shoot the constable. But Willacey now claims that statement was coerced out of him and he said as much on the witness stand yesterday. With that, the case against Crawford fell apart and he was acquitted yesterday.
Willacey has been detained since yesterday. Police say Willacey could face a charge of perjury but press officer G. Michael Reid told us this evening that Willacey could also be charged for abetment to murder.
