On February 9th of last year Jermaine Pascasio was found guilty of the murder of businessman Inez "Blankie" Leal. He was sentenced life in prison on April 10 2006, but now the Appeals Court has ordered a retrial.

The 23-year-old Pascasio appeared in Appeal's Court today with his attorney Oswald Twist who submitted that at his trial Justice Troadio Gonzalez erred in law when he failed to uphold a no case submission made by the defense. With that his appeal was upheld, his conviction was quashed and the sentence set aside. A retrial was then ordered.

At noon in September of 2003, popular merchant Inez Leal was shot and killed in an armed robbery at his business place on Pickstock Street.
