Ideally, FECTAB says they want a Belizean owned port. And while they're on David Gegg's team Magical, that project has not gotten off the ground and government insiders say it's D-E-D.
And right now, the government is currently caught up with their compulsory acquisition of Stake Bank - a move that FECTAB rejects. They say Stake Bank is a mistake.
David Almendarez, FECTAB
"I want them to nationalize a port for us and not sell it out. I'm telling you what I want them to do, since we already messed up the Feinstein Group project, that messed up. Nationalize a port then."
Courtney Menzies:
"A government owned port?"
David Almendarez, FECTAB
"No, a Belizean owned port. A people port."
Yhony Rosado, FECTAB

"The one that we see most adequate is magical port. We are not with Gegg but it's not about me and David nor Anthony Mahler, it's for the industry to create employment. Mr Gegg had a presentation and he's looking for his agreement and it cam start by next week next month next year. The one on Stake Bank, we've been seeing that for the past 15 years, right after Mr Feinstein sold the Tourist Village in 2002, 2004, two years after we knew about Stake Bank but we didn't make noise because it's a far away bone. So the government knows that magical port and Gegg is the one to go but if they don't want, they'll do it at Stake Bank. If it's not making enough money there, they'll do it in Waterloo. That is the problem we're having right now. We see where the politicians are selling the land at so much percentage more, the port is in the same scenario, if they don't flip it the way they want then we the people punish, that's our honest opinion and answer."
"We're definitely saying that Stake Bank is not, the government should not be acquiring to be a national port because that is a mess."
