A security guard who shot and killed his boss in front of other employees has been sentenced to life in prison.

Justice Derick Sylvester today sentenced 42 year old Jerome Crawford to life in prison - which amounts to 30 years before he can be considered for parole.

The judge noted that Crawford has still shown no remorse and has not taken responsibility for his action, maintaining that it was someone else who killed his boss.

Crawford was convicted in May for the murder of Belizean/American national citizen and owner of Crocland, 66-year-old Owen Tucker. In November of 2022, Crawford had some money dispute with his former boss and killed him in front of other employees, who he then ordered to help clean up the scene. Crawford then burnt the body and then bundled it in a carpet and disposed of it.

It was a ruthless murder -which ripped a senior citizen away from his retirement dream. Today his daughter in law told our court reporter that for all they lost, 30 years is not enough:

Marina Tucker, Daughter-in-Law of Deceased
"The family is relieved that the court has acknowledged the significant, the impact of this crime. I can say, yes, 30 years, a little bit longer would have been pleasing for the family, bearing the loss that we are suffering."

Crawford was represented by Attorney Ian Gray.
