And from his role as a member of the board to his other role as a regular citizen of Belmopan, Martinez said the mayor and the area rep need to speak up about a project that will profoundly affect their constituents:

Luke Martinez, President NTUCB

"Both of them are custodians of the City of Belmopan, both of them. I think one of these persons mentioned that they are going to close down the western regional hospital, correct? You have public officials who are making these comments loosely and you have not consulted the people in your constituency, the people who you represent, you have not pushed the national university, the ministry of health, ministry of works to have a public meeting to consult with the residents of Belmopan and we have a tertiary level hospital that will bring significant development to your city and you don't have an opinion. You can't get these technocrats to consult with your residents something wrong with them bedren, they need to break their silence."
