And finally from the mayor, the council is trying to mediate between wholesale and retail market vendors at the Michael Finnegan Market.
They are clashing on days they are going out to sell - the mayor told us how they brought both sides today:
Bernard Wagner, Belize City Mayor
"How can we entertain where the same wholesalers who sell the retailer will come on a retailer day to sell and undersell the retailer, that is not fair for the small man and so we have through this intervention we are focusing on ensuring that the small retailer in the market is not pushed out by the big wholesaler."
"We have been very adamant about it, you gotta respect. Listen man, I would travel to Miami and when I reach there I would just take a taxi, I just call for a blue taxi a yellow taxi but when I go to the yellow taxis I know that I can't take you because that is out of my zone so it's a discipline, it's a culture that we tend to not want to confine ourselves to the rules and regulations and so we gotta enforce."
