A dizzying succession of odious sexual offenses reported in Dangriga town has shaken that Southern community.
Today in court a 53 year old father, whose name we cannot release because it could lead to the identity of the child, received bail after he was accused of molesting his 6 year old daughter. He was charged with indecent assault after the child's mother complained that he sexually molested their daughter twice in the month of May. Police brought the charge immediately but concede that a medical investigation showed no proof that the child had been sexually violated. With that they continue to investigate all possibilities including the one that "bad mind" between man and woman and not as much bad deed between man and child may have spurred the complaint.
And while that case will become clearer with time, another isn't so vague. A 38 year old KBH security guard from Dangriga is remanded at the Hattieville Prison after he was charged the crime of incest. The girl's mother complained that he had been having sexual relations with his 14 year old daughter since she was 10, and had done so most recently in February. There was medical evidence of this and after being charged with incest, the police prosecutor asked that he be remanded to protect the child.
He remains in prison, and tonight, Dangriga Police are also looking at a case involving a 13 year old student from the town who is pregnant for an adult male who police are seeking for questioning. And if all that grief from Dangriga wasn't enough, police there also have one 31 year old man detained for raping a 14 year old student. She told police that in April, a man she knew drove up beside her, forced her into the car and then took her to the Riverside where he and a friend raped her. Police say that the person who is detained has had run in's with the law before and they are looking a friend of his who also has a checkered past. As for the 14 year old complainant, she is described as a troubled child, and was also involved in the recent child pornography scandal in Dangriga involving U.S. retiree Thomas Emerson.
