A Succotz villager is tonight in critical condition at the KHMH following a traffic mishap near that village. Family members today told us that 36-year-old Edgar Alfaro had gone to Benque from Succotz to buy numbers for the Sunday lottery. On his return he was hit by a truck that was heading in the opposite direction. The driver of the truck 53-year-old Enrique Coleman told police that he was driving toward Benque Viejo when between miles 72 and 73 Alfaro suddenly swerved into his lane. He was unable to avoid hitting him. We spoke to Alfaro's sister Sara Alfaro who says she was out on the scene shortly after the incident and found her brother in a pool of blood.
Sara Alfaro,
"I came to where he was and found him lying face down in the middle of the road. The sand truck was parked on the right side of the road, his bike that he was on was on the left hand side of the road. He was lying in a pool of blood and when I approached him I realized he was alive. There were a lot of people around him and they were telling me not to move him. And now the news that you have? It is not good for now."
Tonight Alfaro's condition is critical as he sustained major head injuries. A woman who was knocked down on the western highway last week is in a similar condition. She was knocked down also on the Western Highway, near Esperanza Village.
