Last week in an investigation into the robbery of a bar in the village of Camalote in the Cayo District the police had Edgar Zecena as their prime suspect. The police published a flier in which Zecena was highlighted as the prime suspect and noted for being armed and dangerous. But the truth is Zecena was not even in the area, in fact he was over 70 miles away in Placencia, working. Outraged at the mis-characterization, he stopped by our studios today to clear his name.

Suspect's Mother
"Police went to my house 12:30 to find him and they asked me where my son was. I told them he was in Placencia. They asked me again and I told them he was working in Placencia. They said he has to be here tonight. I told him no and they didn't want to hear me. They went to look at the back at the house, they made me open the kitchen door, and when I went to the kitchen they asked me where my son was and I told them he is not here. I said he was at work. They told me I wasn't telling the truth and they could kill me. I didn't answer because I know my son wasn't there, he was at work."

Edgar Zecena, Wrongfully Accused
"They said I was wanted because I robbed a shop, a bar. That day I was working in Placencia. My friends think I am a thief and that I was wanted by the police."

Alfonso Noble,
But you're not.

Edgar Zecena,
"I'm not."

Mother,
"I feel bad because they said my son was a thief and dangerous and he doesn't know nothing. he is innocent."

Alfonso Noble,
What would you want to tell the public?

Edgar Zecena,
"I am not a thief. I work for my money."

Mother,
"I feel bad because I know we are clean. I want the police to say sorry because the thing didn't go the way they said. By my house there is a banner there in Las Flores, and when thy see him they say he is the wanted man and that's a shame to yes because he is not. I feel bad when they say he is a dangerous man because I know my son works, he works at Placencia."

Zecena says he's made a report to the Internal Affairs Department, and is awaiting an outcome.
