Tonight we note the passing of one of Belize's great band leaders and perhaps its most celebrated trumpet player. Glenn Bood died in his home in Los Angeles at 1:30 this morning. Bood had been battling prostate cancer for many years. The son of another musical legend, Tally-Bood, Glen Bood, played in his first band at the age of 9. Thereafter, he had a stint in just about every Belizean band where his versatility and sharp playing were highly sought after. As bandleader, he captained the Glenn Bood combo, Glenn Bood and the Telegrams, and Glenn Bood and the mediators. His funeral will be held in Los Angeles, most likely, this weekend.
