Last week a Supreme Court jury declared Policeman Cyril Wade guilty, and then the forelady came back and said she'd made a mistake, with a 5 to 4 split in the jury, it should have been a hung verdict. Trial Judge Troadio Gonzalez has warily upheld that first declaration, as he confirmed the guilty verdict yesterday, notwithstanding the confusion. After hearing mitigation pleas, he noted that the maximum sentence is 20 years and then sentenced Wade to 5 years. Given the cloudy nature of the conviction, Wade's attorney, Hubert Elrington has given notice that he will appeal as soon as possible.
