A 16-year-old mother says she is lucky to be alive and able to walk after she was knocked down on Saturday. Tasha Bodden says that around 1:30 on Saturday afternoon she was riding her bicycle near the Palotti Roundabout when she was hit by a grey Ford Ranger. Tasha told us what happened.
Tasha Bodden,
"I was riding my bicycle near the crossing thing and I just saw this car appear in front of me and I looked at the man but the man looked at me and when he looked at me, he saw me and when I crossed the thing, he just knocked me down and I laid down on the floor. I stopped first around the round-a-thing when the car was coming and he saw me stop. When I stopped I said I was going across now and when I passed he just drove his vehicle and that is when I got knocked down."
Keith Swift,
Do you believe you were in the wrong?
Tasha Bodden,
"No. I know I have my rights because he saw me riding and he had reason to knock me down because suppose I was riding my baby now and my baby died - I would have had to do something back because I almost lost my life Saturday night. I want to say thank God I survived and my foot and is here and nothing else is wrong with me. I have pain and every night I feel pain and so."
56-year-old Cecil Plunkett was driving the Ford Ranger and despite what investigators told Tasha, police say Plunkett will be charged with driving without due care and attention and negligent harm.
