Earlier on we told you about the 3 homicides in the city, well, there were at least three other shootings. 29 year old Albert Pollard is one of those victims lucky to be alive after he was shot during a drive by attack around 1 on Sunday morning.
He told police he was in an alley off Banak Street with friends when a green four door pickup approached, speeding from Lakeview Street. Upon reaching the alley, the pickup slowed down and a man pulled out a gun and fired six shots. One of those shots hit Pollard in his left shoulder. Pollard was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and treated for the injury. Police recovered one expended 9 milimeter shell from the scene.
And two hours later, 21 year old Alexander Reyes and 17 year old Johan Orellana were also rushed to the emergency ward after being shot. Orellana says that when he arrived home at 3 am, two dark skinned men met him at the door. One of them was armed with a gun which Orellana says was pointed at him. The man took Orellana’s Samsung brand cell phone and that’s when Orellana hollered for help. Reyes ran to help him and that’s when the gunman fired two shots. Reyes received a graze to his forehead and Orellana was hit on the right hand.
And then reports tell us that on Sunday night, a constable was in the police booth on Vernon Street when his hand was grazed by a bullet. He was not seriously hurt.
