And according to Christine Perriott, the Council is wrong, and so are reports that she forged the City Administrator’s signature to get the fuel. She today told us she is confident that she will be exonerated.
Christine Perriott, Suspended
“It is a simple misunderstanding and that matter is going to be cleared up on Monday.”
Jules Vasquez,
I read in The Reporter that you are accused of misappropriating fuel by, it says in The Reporter, forging the signature of the City Administrator. Is that true?
Christine Perriott,
“I notice also in The Reporter that they have I collect $250 for fuel allowance. All those are just alleged fabrications. Those are lies and like I said it is a simple misunderstanding. I am confident that it is going to be settled at the Council Meeting that is going to happen on Monday. I am a God fearing principled person. Misappropriating fuel is beyond me.”
Jules Vasquez,
Is it a case of someone being out to get you?
Christine Perriott,
“It can be said yes. I can say that.”
Jules Vasquez,
Is this all falling on you because in your streamlining measures you took out, you ordered the removal of a direct line for Councillor Mark King?
Christine Perriott,
“I wouldn’t put it that way. We did do some cost cutting measures on some about 40 odd lines that the Council were just paying and we didn’t know where they were, we didn’t know who was using them. All we know is that there were some excessive bills and as per usual with everything we did justification, we presented it, and agreement was levied and it was executed.”
Jules Vasquez,
Did you incur the wrath of anyone by doing that?
Christine Perriott,
“Uhm one person in particular, yes, and it was being looked at but there are forces there that when you put some measures and you’re stepping on I would say their toes or they are not being allowed again to do as they will, they will do things as petty as accusing of misuse of fuel – as petty as that they will use that. But I need for the public to know that the City Council’s funds is not a personal purse. It is a not purse that belongs to the Mayor, the Councillors or individual or me- it is public funds you’re dealing with.”
So on Monday, we’ll also tell you what came out of the meeting regarding Christine Perriott.
