Art is everywhere form the billboard at your street corner, to that logo on your school bag....that’s the inclusive doctrine that’s employed at St. John’s Junior College where over 400 students from the high school, college and evening division, as well as Sadie Vernon, EP Yorke and the Prison create art. They’ve accumulated over 500 pieces and believe us – they’ve got more styles than a shaolin master.

Kirkland Smith, Director - Arts Center
“We have at least 500 pieces on display. All these pieces are the artworks of our students. At least 450 students worked here and the theme for this exhibition is ‘Art Everywhere’ so our goal to promote the art and advocate for the art exhibiting the student’s work. These art pieces will be placed at different areas on campus, different offices and resource

centers on campus. Our main objective is to stimulate creativity and to showcase students’ work.

Most of the students’ art works really amaze me and I am proud of the work that they have done because as a teacher I can only facilitate and help them to bring out the artist in them and they being able to do the things they do, it is very very exciting for me.

We believe that appreciation for the arts starts here at school and we want to instill in our students this appreciation and in understanding the importance of art in society we can appreciate it and in appreciating the arts, we believe the students can develop a passion for it.”

Students at the art centre can study traditional art as well as graphic and 3-D design.
