An hour before that shooting around 12:20, gunshots were heard near the fish market on Vernon Street. The victim was thirty seven year old Gilbert Pascasio, a Customs officer. Pascasio would not speak to 7NEWS but police reports are that Gilbert Pascasio had just left the nearby Galvez residence and gotten into his Chevy Equinox when a shot was fired through his windshield.
A total of five shots hit the SUV’s front windshield and Gilbert Pascasio who was in the driver’s seat was shot in the right bicep and right side of the abdomen. Pascasio returned fire with his licensed nine milimeter pistol. He didn’t hit the shooter, but he likely drove him off – while also damaging a nearby Toyota Camry; bullets tore through its trunk and rear windshield.
Pascasio has since been discharged from the KHMH and is recovering at home. Police at this time do not know what the motive was.
