Well known Fredrick Lynch Smith, known as “Diggy Dap” was shot more than a month ago and at the time police said he was not cooperating. But now, police say that they know who shot him on the night of October 31, just a few days before he was to appear in the Supreme Court as a crown witness.

Diggy Dap told police that at about 8:00 p.m., October 31, as he was standing in front of a store on Tibruce Street, when a masked gunman fired several shots in his direction; he was hit three times. He is 26 year old Jervis Valencia, a resident of #5 Mayflower Street.

Initially lynch told police he could not see who the shooter was due to the mask he wore. Today, police are not saying how they were able to link Valencia as the masked gunman, but this afternoon, Valencia was charged with one count of attempted murder; grievous harm and use of deadly means of harm upon Diggy Dap. Valencia is due back in court on January 2, 2009.
