He teaches math and science at Edward P. Yorke High School but pretty soon 21 year old Leon Westby will be studying at Oxford University. That is because Westby was selected as a prestigious Rhodes Scholar – and is believed to be Belize’s first.

He won a two year scholarship to study at Oxford University beginning in 2009. He was among the 6 scholars accepted from the Caribbean. Leon Westby graduated from EP Yorke High School and he now teaches there.

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in natural resources management from the University of the West Indies.
