After 4 days and 336 miles- yesterday the Ride Across Belize ended in front of the Social Security’s Branch Office in Punta Gorda. About 50 started and 40 completed the cross country ride for charity which began at 6 am on Thursday in Corozal at ended at 1:10 pm yesterday afternoon. 25 riders rode all 336 miles and that includes Minister of State in the Ministry of Works Edmund Castro who, despite an injury, rode to the finish line.
The ride is a Social Security staff initiative and the board has pledged to match whatever money is raised. Last year it all added up to about $60,000 and they hope to raise the same or more this year. Those who have pledged are asked to make good on them by Friday. The funds raised will be donated to Marla’s House of Hope, the Belize Blood Donors Association, and the Kidney Association.
