The commissioner also spoke about yesterday's killing in Orange Walk, the fatal stabbing of Joaquin Perez.
The 22 year old was called out of his house just after noon, and ended up chasing the man who called him with a machete.
The other man defended himself and ended up stabbing Perez as many as three times. He ran home but collapsed.
Today the Commissioner told us it's a killing, but not necessarily a murder because there was some element of self defence:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"The one in Orange Walk the stabbing, there seem to be some element of self defence. From what I have been brief is that the victim may have been chasing the suspect with a machete and the suspect eventually responded by inflicting stab wounds to the person who was wielding the machete at him. So what we have done is that we have out the file together and we have forward it to the director of public prosecutions as we would normally do in these type of cases and we will be guided by the instructions of the DPP where that matter is concerned."
