Tonight a 25-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle accident that also injured his passenger and friend. It happened around 9:00 yesterday morning between miles 34 and 35 on the Hummingbird highway. We heard more from Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvette.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head N.C.I.B
"On yesterday's date sometime shortly after 9 a.m. police were called to an area somewhere between miles 34 and 35 on the Hummingbird Highway where upon arrival they observed a motorcycle on the side of the road when heading north and they observed a male person apparently motionless who was later identified as Alwin Cayetano 25 years who was the driver and he was accompanied by Tyrique Lopez 21 who was the pillion rider, or his passenger. What the police gather is that they were northbound when the driver seemingly lost control around the curve and crashed into a sign that was on the right-hand side of the highway causing his death, they apparently were traveling with others on separate motorcycles. The police are investigating this matter. Lopez was also injured, he received minor injuries and is in a stable condition."
Myvette also told us that the cops haven't been able to ascertain whether Cayetano was speeding and added that his blood alcohol level will be tested during a postmortem.
