And from COVID criminals to the regular kind, police have a man detained after an attempted shooting on Seagull Street. It happened on Sunday evening when 24-year-old Shaquille Perrera was walking along the corner of Seagull and North Creek Street.

That's when he became the victim of a drive-by shooting and only survived by running for his life. This morning Superintendent Cowo told us how the cops nabbed Perrera's assailant.

Supt. Alejandro Cowo, OC, CIB Belize City
"Yesterday in the evening police responded to shots fired at Seagull street this is just minutes after 4p.m. Upon arrival police found several expanded shells on the streetside. They also found a male person who mentioned that whilst he was at the corner of Seagull street a vehicle just stopped and the door was opened and several shots were fired at his direction. Fortunately he ran away and escaped unhurt. The vehicle was impounded along with the driver and he is presently detained at racoon street police station at this time."

Reporter:
"Anything to know what motivated that shooting sir?"

Supt. Alejandro Cowo, OC, CIB Belize City
"As we have been gathering it's an ongoing rivalry between two different groups in that area there."

Cherisse Halsall:
"Where did police locate the vehicle?"

Supt. Alejandro Cowo, OC, CIB Belize City
"It was located in Martin's area."
